I was honored to help lead the design and schematic design for the new MarillacHealth New Health Center, a vital community project addressing the health care needs of the Grand Valley area. MarillacHealth has been a cornerstone of the community since 1988, providing essential medical, dental, and behavioral health services to over 12,000 patients annually. With the increasing demand, it became clear that a new facility was necessary to continue offering high-quality, accessible care.
The new health center is strategically located on a 4.5-acre site north of the Mesa County Workforce Center on 29 ½ Road. This location offers excellent accessibility from North Avenue and the I-70 Business Loop, making it convenient for both patients and staff. The new facility will feature:
27,000 square feet of space dedicated to medical exam rooms, behavioral health counseling, and dental treatment areas.
An integrated walk-up and drive-thru pharmacy, accessible to both patients and neighboring residents.
Combined pediatric medical and dental services to provide comprehensive care for children.
A large, welcoming waiting area designed for comfort and efficiency.
Administrative offices to support the center’s operations.
The design process focused on creating a patient-centric environment that promotes health and wellness while ensuring operational efficiency. The new location will replace the current clinic near St. Mary’s Hospital, which MarillacHealth has outgrown, but will maintain other existing facilities, including the 12th Street Location within 12th Street Plaza, the embedded dental hygiene services at Primary Care Partners Pediatric Associates, the Warrior Wellness Center at Central High School, and the Catholic Outreach Day Center for medical services and referrals.
This project underscores my commitment to designing functional, accessible, and community-focused health care spaces. By addressing the specific needs of the Clifton, Fruitvale, and Palisade areas, this new health center will enhance MarillacHealth’s ability to provide exceptional care to an expanding patient base, projected to exceed 13,000 individuals.
