The UNL College of Engineering is developing a facility that will engage and serve all its constituencies—including current and future students, faculty, staff, engineering partners, and the public—in innovative, creative, and exciting ways. This facility aims to transform engineering teaching, research, and practice at the University of Nebraska, impacting the state and the world.
**Project Description:**
The project involves demolishing the Scott Engineering Center (SEC) Link and constructing a new lab addition adjacent to the north facade of SEC. The new addition will align with the existing floor levels within SEC and connect to Nebraska Hall via ramps and stairs.
Numerous improvements will be made to Nebraska Hall, including new offices and classroom spaces to accommodate those displaced by the Link demolition, new ADA-compliant entrances on the north elevation, various ADA upgrades, and the installation of fire sprinklers throughout the building.
Additionally, a mechanical tower will be constructed along the east side of SEC to serve the first and second floors via horizontal ductwork. The third floor of SEC will be served horizontally from equipment located in a penthouse on the new addition.
